Kids’ Adventure Week

When

Friday, June 28th from 8:00am – 3:30pm

June 24–28, 8 am–3:30 pm, For kids who have completed grades K–5

A jam-packed week of outrageous adventures. Each day will have a theme. We will do some things at church, and we’ll load the bus and travel to others. Each day will include a devotion, friendships, adventure, new experiences, learning, and all-around fun! Kids will bring their own lunch. Cost: $335 (all activities, bus, snacks) Register by May 31 at spdlc.org/register.

Note: This week cannot happen without enough adult supervision. Parents—can you volunteer just one of the days? We will need 2–3 parents each of the days to help with the activities. For your help, the amount of $50 will be refunded from your child’s registration.

Monday—Safety Day—We will interact with our local safety officers, get a tour of the Plymouth Police Station, and explore a fire truck. When we’re done learning, we’ll head to Kerfoot Canopy Tour to challenge ourselves on the high ropes course, while being super safe with harnesses and helmets.

Tuesday—All About Summer—Kids will bring their bikes to SPD, where we will have a bike rodeo. We’ll also delve into bubbles of all sorts, including life-size creations, that the kids can stand inside. Swimming at Edina Aquatic Center will be our main portion of the afternoon, followed by ice cream cones at a local ice cream shop!

Wednesday—Music and Theater—Let’s play the harmonica! Each child will get a harmonica and a short lesson from a local “professional” player. We’ll also hear a demonstration on our magnificent organ in the Sanctuary. Puppets will entertain us, both from a professional show, as well as the kids being the puppet masters. We’ll also see a performance of the Fantastic Mr. Fox at Sidekick Theater.

Thursday—Animals—Eagles, hawks, horses, goats, cows, chickens, geese, etc! We will see all of these and so many more! We’ll experience farm life at Pinehaven Farm north of the metro. Bunker Hills Stables will provide us with a trail or horse-drawn wagon ride, and we will be awed by birds of prey when the U of M Raptor Center visits us at SPD.

Friday—Olympics—We will host our very own Olympics, including Opening Ceremonies. The kids will show their skill at long jump and discus, limbo, soccer goals, tug of war, water balloon toss, running, and so much more! Our afternoon will be filled with kayaking at Parker’s Lake.
