Worship & Music

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!” - Psalm 95:6

Give Thanks, Sing Praises, Be Fed

Worship is the central act of the Christian community. We gather weekly to be nourished and fed by Word and Sacrament, and then sent back out into the world to serve in God’s kingdom. We gather to be reminded who and whose we are:  beloved children of God. And we gather as one body united in Christ. All are welcome here.

We work hard to make St. Philip the Deacon a welcoming place for all. Rainbow bags filled with quiet activities to foster a sense of belonging in worship are available for our youngest worshipers. Large print worship folders are available for every service. Williams Sound System devices are available for the hard of hearing. Our facility is handicap accessible with designated handicapped parking spots near the entrances.

  • Spoken worship, in-person – 8:30 a.m.
  • Traditional worship, in-person – 9:45 a.m.
  • Livestream worship – 9:45 a.m.

Music Ministry

Come and make a joyful noise.

For those who love to sing, we have a number of choirs that enhance the worship experience.

Sanctuary Choir

The Sanctuary Choir is made up of senior high students and adults of all musical abilities and sings regularly at the 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. services on Sundays, and also on special holidays. The choir sings anthems of all musical styles, a cappella and accompanied.

SPD Singers

The SPD Singers is a group of students in middle school and high school who love to sing together and perform music of all kinds.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is made up of children in 2nd through 5th grade and sings once a month for worship services. Songs of varying styles are learned and performed at worship and concerts throughout the year. Children learn to sing, serve the Lord and have fun with their friends.

Dynamic Deacons

The Dynamic Deacons are made up of pre-K 4 and 5-year-olds, Kindergartners and 1st graders. They sing approximately once a month for worship. This choir is an enthusiastic group of children who learn about music and singing and love to praise God with their voices!

“The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing . . . not healing, not curing . . . that is a friend who cares.”
