In addition to our regular weekly worship life together, St. Philip the Deacon also celebrates a number of special occasions during the course of a lifetime. These include baptism, first communion, confirmation, weddings and funerals. We are happy to walk with you in planning and preparing for these important events.
Celebrating God’s Love and Faithfulness During Life’s Journey
The journey of the Christian life is marked by many life passages with Baptism as the primary one. In the waters of Baptism we are named and claimed as God’s own. From this moment on, all times and occasions of life are accompanied by the presence of God who walks with us and makes himself known to us. Through worship at times of birth, confirmation, marriage, death, and others, our relationship with Jesus Christ is affirmed and celebrated.
By water and the Holy Spirit we are reborn children of God.
In preparation for your child’s baptism, we have created a baptism video that discusses how we do baptisms at St. Philip the Deacon. We also welcome baptisms of older children and adults. To schedule a baptism, please complete our on-line Baptism Information Form.

The body of Christ given for you. The blood of Christ, shed for you.
Through the sacrament of Holy Communion, Christians have been nourished at God’s table ever since Jesus first shared this sacred meal with the disciples.
A family-centered workshop to prepare children in 3rd grade for the reception of their first communion is offered twice a year. Children and their parents make the decision when to enroll. Generally, children are ready for instruction when they start asking questions about their faith and Holy Communion.
If you receive Holy Communion in your home congregation you are welcome to receive Holy Communion at St. Philip the Deacon. Holy Communion is celebrated every week at our services on Saturday evening and Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Communion is celebrated at all services on the first Sunday of the month and at festival Sundays like Pentecost, Christ the King and All Saints.
For more information contact: Trish Arndt, Director of Special Events for Children at 763-475-7119 or by email.
Stir up the gift of your Holy Spirit.
The three years of Middle School are a time of learning and preparation for the Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) when young people claim for themselves the faith in which they were baptized. It is a time of making new friends, learning about the Bible and the history of God’s people, and serving other people.
During the program year, Confirmation meets on Wednesday Evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m., with time for a meal and fun activities starting at 5:30 p.m. Each week includes a time for large group teaching for all grades in Confirmation, as well as time for small groups of 8-10 students in the same grade, where students can discuss topics in more depth. Some weeks of Confirmation focus on service, fellowship and worship.
All Are Welcome
We welcome new middle schoolers to confirmation and our middle school ministry events throughout the year.
I give you this ring as a sign of my love and faithfulness.

I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord is my strength and my song;
