SDP has trained over 35 lay ministers over the past six years to be the hands and feet of Christ in our faith community. Lay ministers share the love of Christ with our homebound members and those in need. They develop relationships with others by walking alongside them to show them they are remembered and loved. This fall, our lay ministry training class will delve into various topics such as Deep Listening, Prayer, Sympathy vs. Empathy, Compassion, Dementia, Communion, and Healing. Participants will gain knowledge , confidence and skills in all these areas from experts in the field, SPD Pastors and SPD’s Parish Nurse. These tools can be used in your everyday life, too. Our need for lay ministers has increased as our population has aged and people seek more caring connections through their faith community. For questions, contact Susan Path, SPD Parish Nurse at spath@spdlc.org.

Sarah Ciavarri will be joining us for 3 upcoming classes open to the entire congregation during the Lay Ministry Training.. Rev. — CHRISTIAN WISDOM —

“Faith is a living, busy, active, mighty thing. And so it is impossible for it not to do good works incessantly . . . it is impossible to separate works from faith, quite as impossible as to separate burning and shining from fire.”

Martin Luther
